The symposium will focus on molecular quantum
chemistry and cover the full range of contemporary theoretical
methods. It will address recent
developments in electronic structure theory, multiscale methods, and
molecular dynamics, as well as chemical applications in the areas of
spectroscopy, reactivity, and catalysis.
The symposium will take place in the new
conference building of the institute which is
scheduled to be finished by the end of 2009. The symposium is held
in honor of Walter Thiel who turned 60 in March 2009. The chosen date enables
us to make use of the new facility with him still being 60.
